It’s officially been 3 weeks since the egg retrieval procedure and I am just about feeling like myself again. I’ve been taking some time reflecting on this process, and this will probably be the last post before the anonymous Q + A.

I am incredibly grateful that it was an overall very positive experience. Sure, there were a few mishaps, though I generally felt great all the way through.

This post is about the recovery period immediately after the procedure up until today, 3 weeks after the procedure.

I initially thought the post would be until I got my expected period, which if on schedule would have been 2 weeks after the procedure. However, due to the side effects of one of the medications, I got a period just 5 days after the retrieval.

This, among other things, was something I wish I knew a bit more about.

Read on for:

  • what day-of recovery felt like

  • getting an unexpected period

  • the good eats restaurant round-up during my birthday weekend

  • falling into a funk 2 weeks after the procedure

  • the outcome and thoughts about doing another round

Trigger warning: if you or someone you know are currently experiencing infertility, know my thoughts are deeply with you and this may be a post to skip.
