On April 26th, 2026, Mike proposed where we first met over four years ago (the Museum of Science in Boston).

Now that I’ve had two weeks of distance, I suppose I could write this with some degree of discernment. But instead, I will provide the raw footage. Because not only was it unexpected, but we were in a full blown fight the entire day leading up to it.

Knowing what I know now, I had absolutely no business being so annoyed (to put it lightly). Though I can only tell this story through the lens of what I knew at the time. In another chapter, Mike and my sister will both describe their points of view.

In hindsight, it was absolutely perfect.

Though in the moment, oh wow was I mad.

So how do I start writing knowing that my behavior leading up to my proposal was nothing short of being a bully?

Well I guess we’re about to find out!!!

Read on for:

  • the reason I was so fuming (giving Mike the silent treatment - yes, as a 34 year old, I regressed to the silent treatmentā€¦šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø)

  • details of the proposal plan

  • a few photos of the engagement and the ring (which I am completely and utterly obsessed with!!!! thank you to Sophie and the team over at Sophie Hughes!)

The engagement was a surprise though I of course knew it was happening given our wedding is essentially fully planned at this point.

As background, Mike and I started going through the engagement ring process in September of last year. It took a full three months (and a flight across the country) to make a decision, but as of mid-December, the ring was chosen and purchased. We were told it’d take 8-12 weeks to make, so I had an idea of when the ring may be ready.
