I received a direct message recently that asked about “any specific resources on stress management and eating? I feel like I have an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise and want to find new ways to support myself.”

Rather than respond haphazardly in a character-restricted DM, I thought I would dedicate more space and energy to this question. Not only is it one I hold near and dear personally, it’s also one I spend a lot of time talking about professionally.

If you are struggling with disordered or disorganized eating patterns, know this may not be the best time to read this newsletter, my heart is with you, and I’m rooting for you.

This post details my journey as a dancer, includes my own history of negative relationship with food, exercise, and body image, and how I found peace with food and movement.

It is not a post on healing an eating disorder, because that can only be done with a team of professionals. It is a post that discusses ways I built out a stress management toolkit to not rely solely on food, and how I utilize intuitive eating in my own life. I try my best to steer clear of the gimmicks and the slogans. The “just do this one thing and everything gets better!!!” tagline has no place here because this was a 10+ year journey for me.

I also include some resources I’ve found helpful, and 17 things I wish I could tell my younger self.

Let’s get into it!
